Participation in the National Scientific Conference in Łódź

On September 24–25, the National Academic Conference “Gift and Legacy: The Role of Family Mementos in Preserving the Memory of World War II Victims” took place, organized by the Museum of Independence Traditions in Łódź—Radogoszcz Martyrdom Branch.

Representatives of the Center—Natalia Czesak and Wiktoria Zarębczan—took part in the conference, presenting papers on family mementos and their role in preserving historical memory.
Natalia Czesak presented the topic “Lake Victoria Was My Playground: From a Home Archive to a Museum Collection. Sailing and Water Activities in the Polish Scouting Movement in East Africa.”
Wiktoria Zarębczan presented a paper titled “Zestani za Sybir: Family mementos of Siberian deportees in the exhibition narrative and educational activities of the UKEN Center for the Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions, and Resettlements in Kraków.”
The conference provided an opportunity to exchange best practices and experiences regarding the commemoration and popularization of World War II history, as well as to discuss the significance of family mementos in preserving the memory of the victims and their loved ones.
