Academic conferences, speeches and ceremonies

The Centre for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements of UKEN in Cracow has organized, co-organized, as well as participated in numerous scientific conferences, meetings and ceremonies since the establishment of the unit. These events are nationwide as well as international. They are held in Poland and abroad of our country. They are attended by scientists, but also by witnesses to history, students and pupils. So far, the Centre has cooperated with many centres of learning in Poland and abroad, including the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Krakow, the Institute of National Remembrance, the Siberian Association, the Institute of History and Archival Studies at UP, the Department of National Minorities and Forced Migration at IHiA UP, the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity, the International Meeting House in Oswiecim, the Teacher Training Centre in Oswiecim, the Malopolska Centre for Teacher Training and many others.

 

ORGANIZATION OF MEETINGS, CELEBRATIONS, CONFERENCES:

  1. Organization of an event commemorating the fourth mass deportation of Polish citizens deep into the Soviet Union in June 1941, in cooperation with the Senior Citizens’ Desk Officer of the Department of Social Policy and Health of the Office of the City of Krakow and the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of the City of Krakow for Senior Citizens’ Policy (June 21, 2021).
  2. Co-organization of an event commemorating Polish soldiers who fought in the Italian campaign in connection with the 77th anniversary of the capture of the hill on Monte Cassino (May 18, 2021).
  3. Organization of an event commemorating the 81st anniversary of the second mass deportation of Polish citizens deep into the USSR, which included a concert of Siberian patriotic songs (April 13, 2021).
  4. Organization of remote events (via YouTube, Facebook and telephone) commemorating the first mass deportation of Polish citizens deep into the Soviet Union on February 10, 1940 (2021).
  5. Organization of a conference entitled. “Memory and Postmemory. Siberian Families in the Land of Oswiecim. On the 80th anniversary of mass deportations to the USSR,” in cooperation with the Auschwitz Memorial Museum in Oświęcim (December 3, 2020).
  6. Organization of a ceremony related to the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Founding Convention of the reborn Siberian Association in Krakow (May 13, 2019).
