Siberia – captured in a frame, remembered in images. 80th anniversary of the mass deportation of Poles

On 10 February 2020, during the 80th anniversary of the first mass deportation of Poles deep into the Soviet Union, the official opening of the exhibition ‘Siberia – captured in the frame, remembered in images. 80th Anniversary of the Mass Deportation of Poles” presented in the lobby of the main building of the Pedagogical University in Cracow. The exhibition was also hosted in the Filumenistic Museum in Bystrzyca Kłodzka until 5 May 2022, thanks to the initiative of Mr Janusz Kobryń and the Bystrzyca Association for the Memory of Deportees of Siberia and Victims of Repression. Subsequently, it also found its way to Nowa Ruda, where a meeting of Siberians was held to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of Soviet Russia’s invasion of the Second Polish Republic and Siberian’s Day. The exhibition was also presented at the Pod Atlantami Library on the Wałbrzych market square, in cooperation with the Wałbrzych branch of the Siberians Association and Mr Wacław Kwieciński, who initiated the opening ceremony. There was also a lecture on the iconographic sources in the UP CDZWiP Archive. It was also possible to present the exhibition at the Museum of Kłodzko Land, during the realisation of the project “Diaspora of Polish Siberians in the World – Record of Source Accounts/Notations and Home Archives of Siberians in the Country – Archival Complex”, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the programme “National Programme for the Development of the Humanities”. The exhibition was also hosted by the Mieroszow Cultural Centre until mid-January 2023.
