We have completed a search in Bialystok carried out as part of an NPRH project

Recently, part of the Centre’s team carried out a search in Białystok as part of the NPRH programme associated with the grant entitled ‘Diaspora of Polish Sybiraks in the world – a record of source accounts/notations and home archives of Sybiraks in the country – an archival team’, under the direction of Hubert Chudzio, PhD, Professor UKEN, with the aim of completing the documentation on Polish Sybiraks. Natalia Czesak, M.A., Natalia Kaszuba, M.A., Wiktoria Zarębczan and Dr Alicja Śmigielska participated in the search.

During the research work, they became acquainted with the exhibition of the Siberian Memorial Museum, which is dedicated to people who were enslaved and sent deep into Russia, and later the Soviet Union, from the late 16th to the mid-20th century.

During the course of the search, they were introduced to the activities of the Science Department and the Collections Department there.

During the stay in Białystok, contact was established with the president of the Sybiraków Association – Białystok Branch, Ms Jolanta Hryniewicka, and preliminary discussions were held on future cooperation between the CDZWiP and the Association.

Thank you very much for the kind reception!

We look forward to fruitful cooperation.
