Autumn… the traditional time for scientific conferences
Two speeches were devoted to topics related to the Centre’s activities in the past week alone. Prof. Hubert Chudzio, director of the Centre, during the international conference entitled. ‘Deporting forever. Deportations and life in exile in the Soviet Union of former soldiers of the Second Corps of the Polish Armed Forces in the West and ‘kulaks’, organised by the Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw, he delivered a paper entitled ‘Deportations and life in exile in the Soviet Union. ‘Accounts of Poles deported deep into the Soviet Union in the years 1951-1952 in the collection of the CDZWiP UKEN’. Dr Alicja Śmigielska, meanwhile, during the international session entitled ‘Poland and Yugoslavia in the 20th century. ‘Poland and Yugoslavia in the Twentieth Century’, organised by the Faculty of History of Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Belgrade, she spoke about the Polish diplomat Wacław Babinski and his activities for Poles and the Polish community in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Representatives of the Centre will also be present at the Association of University Museums conference in Lublin, but more on that soon!
