Tanzania, Kondoa/Tengeru 2024.

Tanzania, Kondoa/Tengeru 2024 After spending days at the National Archives in Dar es Salaam, we set off on our journey. The first stop is Morogoro, where there was a Polish settlement between 1944 and 1945. It was inhabited by civilians who left the USSR together with the Polish Army in 1942. Here, former Siberians created a substitute for Poland on African soil. A cemetery and a monument in the centre of the former settlement remain today. In Morogoro, as part of our UKEN research expedition, together with the Polish Embassy in Dar es Salaam, we installed information boards about the Poles who came here during the Second World War, which we brought from Poland. In addition, a project for the future renovation of the necropolis has been developed.
