Who won the Battle of Monte Cassino and all of World War II????

Who won the battle for Monte Cassino and the entire Second World War?
Melchior Wańkowicz, in his book “The Battle for Monte Cassino,” Rome 1946 (vol. 2, pp. 349-350) jokingly wrote: “I formulated a theory for myself, which I laid out to Major [Melik] Somchjanc in a somewhat simplified way:
– What should have been done to beat the Germans?
– Invasion.
– What should have been done to make the invasion possible?
– Open the way to northern Italy, from which the war industry in Austria could be bombed effectively. Thus, to capture the Monastery.
– What should have been done to capture the Monastery?
– Nullify 593.
– Who captured the 593?
– The 4th Battalion.
– Who commanded the battalion after the death of Lt. Col. Fanslau?
– Major Melik Somchajnc.
– So who won the world war?
It seems – clear.”
The exhibition at the headquarters of CDZWIP UKEN – Fort Skotniki presents memorabilia of Major Melik Somchajnc, General Zygmunt Bohusz-Szyszko and other Polish heroes, soldiers of the Second Polish Corps.
