Polish cemeteries and memorial sites in Africa – another project is underway!

Another scientific mission related to Polish cemeteries and national memorial sites as part of the Center’s work is ahead of us! It will be carried out by a team from the Center for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions, and Resettlements at the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow, led by Prof. Hubert Chudzio, in cooperation with the Kul-Tur Foundation, the Polish Embassy in Pretoria, and the Moto Moto Museum in Zambia. The project includes, among other things, restoration and conservation work on the Polish cemetery, as well as archival research and scientific studies related to the presence of Poles in what was then Northern Rhodesia in the 1940s. The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund, as part of the National Memorial Sites Abroad program for 2025-2026.
