Visit of the Second Deputy Governor of Małopolska Province to Fort Skotniki

On February 23, 2026, the UKEN Center for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions, and Resettlements in Krakow had the honor of hosting the Second Deputy Governor of Małopolska, Mr. Ryszard Śmiałek, along with his assistant Maciej Kamiński.

During the visit, the Deputy Governor toured the permanent exhibition, familiarizing himself with the presented testimonies of the fate of Siberian deportees. The Center’s collections and the scope of its scientific, educational, and promotional activities, including the collection of eyewitness accounts, were also presented.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the importance of preserving historical memory and the role of cultural and scientific institutions in passing on knowledge to future generations.
