Let’s remember about rtm. Witold Pilecki

The year 2023 is an important year to remember one of the greatest Polish heroes – rtm. Witold Pilecki! We are just celebrating the 80th anniversary of his daring escape from Auschwitz, which began on the night of 26-27 April 1943, and 25 May marks the 75th anniversary of his murder by Stalinist torturers. The UP Centre for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements, thanks to the help and commitment of many well-wishers, has prepared the projects of 19 information boards which, as a result of the cooperation of the Marshal’s Office of the Małopolska Region, the Małopolska Tourist Organisation and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Sites Foundation, will be erected on the route of the “Trail of the escape of rtm. Witold Pilecki from Auschwitz”.
Each of the boards contains a biographical sketch of rtm. Pilecki; an excerpt from his report, referring to a particular place on the route; a map with the marked route of the trail; as well as graphics. See you on the trail!
