PHOTORELATION – Commemoration of the 84th anniversary of the first mass deportation of Polish citizens deep into the USSR
On 10 February 2024, at the headquarters of the UKEN Centre for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements in Krakow, a ceremony was held to mark the 84th anniversary of the first mass deportation of Polish citizens deep into the USSR, co-organised by the Krakow branch of the Siberian Association, the Małopolska Voivode, the Institute of National Remembrance in Krakow, the University of the Commission for National Education in Krakow and the UKEN Centre for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements in Krakow.
After a solemn mass and the laying of flowers at the plaque of the Siberian Deportees at Father Adam Studziński Square with military assistance, the participants went to Fort “Skotniki”, where the Siberian anthem was sung, many commemorative speeches were heard, and the premiere of a film entitled “In the footsteps of Polish Sybiraks. Masindi expedition 2022′. The whole event was complemented by the opening of another part of the permanent exhibition entitled. “The whole event was complemented by the opening of another part of the permanent exhibition entitled ‘Exiled to Siberia.
