This is the 7th completely rebuilt cemetery!

Tanzania. Kondoa 2024. after the extremely fractious discovery of the tombstones of the Siberians under secondary buildings in a former Polish wartime settlement, the restoration and reconstruction of the Polish necropolis has been completed. Our UKEN expedition was not coped with: lack of electricity, torrential rains, exhausting heat, stomach problems, scorpions, mosquitoes, vipers etc. The result exceeded our expectations. On the African continent there is now another worthy commemoration of an important part of Polish history. This is the 7th cemetery completely reconstructed by the expedition led by Professor Hubert Chudzio, Director of the Centre, and the 10th where we have carried out various works for the benefit of Polish heritage… We would like to thank all those who supported us and kept their fingers crossed. As you can see, it was worth it! A full report on the work, also on social media and the Centre’s website as usual when we return home. Now it’s time to move on… More soon!
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam and the ‘The Past Doesn’t Return, But It Doesn’t Die’ Foundation. Subsidised by funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture.
