Today marks the 84th anniversary of the signing of the so-called Sikorski-Majski Agreement.

Today marks the 84th anniversary of the signing of the so-called Sikorski-Mayski Agreement, which formally restored diplomatic relations severed after the Soviet Union’s invasion of Poland. In an additional protocol attached to the agreement, the USSR government guaranteed “amnesty” for Polish exiles and political prisoners. In the long term, this enabled some of them to leave the Soviet Union and regain their freedom. These events were recalled by Maria Polkowska, a Siberian deportee. We invite you to listen to an excerpt from an interview recorded by CDZWiP in 2012 in Nottingham.
