Dr Anna Hejczyk-Gołąb
Graduate of the Institute of History at the Pedagogical University in Krakow, historian. For many years, she has been involved in documenting the fate of Poles subjected to forced migration in order to save them from oblivion (projects and scientific missions in Poland, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda).
While working at CDZWiP UP, she also organises and participates in numerous educational and knowledge dissemination activities (e.g. prepares exhibitions, educational workshops, participates in conferences and scientific and educational projects).
Participant of the grant of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education within the NPRH project entitled. “Pokolenia odchodzą. Relacje źródłowe polskich Sybiraków z Wielkiej Brytanii” (2012-2017) and a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the NPRH project entitled “Diaspora of Polish Sybiraks. “Diaspora of Polish Sybiraks in the world – a record of source accounts/Notes and home archives of Sybiraks in the country – archival team (2021-2025)”.
Her research interests include: history of Poles and Polish settlements in Africa in the years: 1942-1952 (author of the publication entitled. “Siberians under Kilimanjaro. Tengeru. Polish settlement in East Africa in the memories of its inhabitants’), Polish wartime and post-war emigration in the United Kingdom, as well as so-called ‘oral history’. Meanwhile, in July 2022, she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled. ‘On the edge of life. Medical care and health of the Polish civilian population in Iran in 1942-1945 – a historical study’.
