Volunteering

If you are interested in history and want to gain new experiences and skills – become a volunteer at the UKEN Centre for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements!

.

The CDZWiP is a unit of the University of the National Education Commission where you can encounter ‘living history’. Recording interviews with witnesses of history during study missions at home and abroad not only allows one to learn more about each other’s fate and broaden one’s knowledge, but also enables one to acquire ‘historical-journalistic’ skills. Preparing transcriptions of interviews provides the opportunity to develop editorial talents. In turn, working on the creation of exhibitions, documentary films, as well as helping to run workshops for young people shapes the teaching and pedagogical skills of our volunteers. The activities listed above are just some of the large spectrum of activities and opportunities offered by our unit. The Centre itself is located in an unusual building “with history” – the historic Skotniki Fort 52 ½ N, which is part of the Krakow Fortress, which can be an ideal location for those interested in, for example, tourism or cultural heritage.
