Meeting with Professor Stanisław Krawczyński

Yesterday, the Centre was visited by Professor Stanisław Krawczyński, former Rector of the Academy of Music in Kraków. The Professor is directly connected with the history of the Siberians. He was born in the settlement of Pierspiektiwnyj in Krasnoyarsk Krai. Both his parents were deported to Siberia, where they met. Professor Krawczyński’s father, Wiesław Krawczyński, was a soldier in the Home Army and co-founder and president of the Sybiraks’ Association in Kraków.

Professor Krawczyński donated unique mementos of his Siberian father to the Centre, including: secret messages, sketches from prison and postcards. This is yet another part of the collection donated to our unit. You can see some of the artefacts in our exhibition.
