The 83rd anniversary of the death of General Władysław Sikorski

Today we mark the 83rd anniversary of the death of General Władysław Sikorski, Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Poland and Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces.
A ceremony commemorating the General’s tragic death took place, as it does every year, at his grave in the Crypt of St. Leonard at Wawel. A commemorative speech was delivered by Ms. Wanda Puszko-Tarnawska, president of the Association of Siberian Deportees—Kraków Branch. During the event, Father Jerzy Pająk consecrated the new banner of the Kraków Branch of the Association of Siberian Deportees.
The ceremony was organized by the Association of Siberian Deportees—Kraków Branch and the Lesser Poland Provincial Office. It was attended by Siberian deportees and guests, including Dr. Michał Wenklar, deputy director of the Kraków Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), and Jacek Wawszczak, president of the Association of Families of Katyn Victims of Southern Poland in Kraków. Dr. Anna Hejczyk-Gołąb represented the UKEN Center for the Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions, and Resettlements in Kraków.
