The 85th anniversary of the signing of the Sikorski–Majski Agreement

Today marks the 85th anniversary of the signing of the Sikorski–Maysky Agreement, concluded on July 30, 1941, by Gen. Władysław Sikorski, Prime Minister of the Polish Government-in-Exile, and Ivan Maysky, the Soviet Union’s ambassador to London. The agreement led to the resumption of diplomatic relations between Poland and the Soviet Union, paving the way for the release of Polish citizens imprisoned and deported deep into the USSR and for the formation of the Polish Army in the USSR.
