We invite University employees to our Open House

On September 23, 2026, a special event organized exclusively for University employees will take place at Fort Skotniki. This will be an opportunity to visit the headquarters of the UKEN Center for the Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions, and Resettlements and to learn more about this unique place, which combines the functions of a university-wide research unit, a university museum, an archive, and a library.

The program includes a curator-led tour of the permanent exhibition titled “Deported to Siberia: The Fates of Polish Citizens Deported Deep into the Soviet Union During World War II,” as well as a tour of the historic 19th-century building—an “armored guardian of memory”—which forms part of the Kraków Fortress. Participants will also learn about the Center’s activities, its collections, and its most important ongoing projects.

The event will conclude with refreshments, which—weather permitting—will be served outdoors on the fort grounds.

Due to limited space, advance registration via email is required: centrumdokumentacji@uken.krakow.pl (registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis). Transportation will be provided for participants from the main UKEN building at 2 Podchorążych Street to Fort Skotniki in two groups: at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., with return transportation provided.
